Introduction

BestSelfApp is dedicated to respecting and protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy applies to all our websites, mobile applications, and related services. BestSelfApp focuses on self-improvement, mindfulness, and wellness, offering features like daily intention setting, event logging, journaling, and providing analytical insights on the correlation between daily activities and life goals.

Personal Data Collection and Use

BestSelfApp collects various types of personal data to provide and improve our services:

Account Information: Including but not limited to usernames and email addresses.

Personal Entries and Journal Data: Details of daily events, activities, feelings, and intentions.

Health-Related Data: Information such as food intake, exercise activities, mental health notes, and data from Apple Health and Android health services (e.g., activity, sleep, heart rate). This data will be synchronized with our back end systems so it can be included in the analysis we provide.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies: Used to track user behavior within the app.

Purpose of Data Processing

The data collected is used for:

All user data is stored in the United States on our systems. We implement robust security measures to protect your data. However, when sharing data with third-party partners, it may be stored in other locations depending on their policies.

Unprompted Health Data

BestSelfApp allows users the flexibility to configure their events and activities data to include specific details which may be health-related, such as food consumption, medication intake, or other health-related information. It is important to note that:

Voluntary Provision: This data is not required by the app for its basic functionality. It is provided voluntarily by the user and is intended to enhance the user's experience by allowing for more personalized analysis and insights.

User Control and Ownership: Users retain control and ownership of their data, including the right to modify or delete it. If users choose to input this type of health-related data, they have the same rights over it as with any other data within the app.

Data Storage and Analysis

All data provided by the user, including unprompted health data, is stored on our cloud provider's systems. This enables us to perform comprehensive analysis, not limited to the local storage of the user's device. We emphasize that such data is treated with the highest regard for privacy and security, in line with our overall data protection policies.  The data is stored on our cloud provider residing in the US.

Retention of Personal Data

We are committed to the principle of storage limitation and will retain your personal data for no longer than is necessary to fulfill our processing purposes. Following account deletion, revocation of consent or a written deletion request, your personal data will be retained for no longer than 30 days, save for certain instances where legal obligations require longer retention periods. We will also anonymise some personal data so it will no longer be associated with you.  In this event we are entitled to retain and use this information freely.

Community Insights and Anonymized Data Use

We may use anonymized, aggregate event and intentions data to provide community insights and recommended content, including but not limited to event and intention names and their frequencies. This data is never tied to specific dates or connected to your user ID, ensuring that your identity remains protected. This anonymized information may be shared through various channels, such as within the app, or other mediums, to help users discover new event ideas and enhance their experience with BestSelfApp.

Third-Party Data Sharing

In order to provide you with our services, carry out our activities and to comply with legal obligations, we share your personal data with certain third parties such as:

  • cloud storage providers, to help us securely store and back-up your data. To be able to provide these services, the providers receive your Account Information; and the Mental Health Data. The providers we currently use are located in the US.

  • analytics providers, who assist us in the improvement and optimisation of the App. To be able to provide these services, the providers receive Device Data and Usage Data. We currently use a provider located in the US.

  • newsletter and mailing providers, to enable us to generate and send newsletters to you if you have subscribed. To be able to provide this service, the providers receive your Account Information. The providers we use are located in the US.

  • payment providers, who execute card payments for purchases made on subscriptions. To do this, the providers receive your payment details and Account Information.  The provider we currently use is located in the US.

  • subscription infrastructure platforms, who facilitate the offering of in-app subscriptions. In doing so they receive your Account Information. The platform we are currently using is located in the US.

  • cookie consent management platforms, who assist us in managing and implementing your preferences when you visit our websites. The platforms receive automatically collected device information to provide this service. The platform we are currently using is located in the US.

  • law enforcement authorities, government authorities, government bodies and the courts where they request it and disclosure is lawful. (e.g. prevention and detection of crime).

International Data Transfers

While all data resides in the US, international transfers may occur if third-party partners are located outside the US. Users should be aware of this potential.

User Rights

Users own their data and have the right to access, correct, or delete their personal data at any time.  This can be done by editing the data in the application directly.  If you wish for your data to be deleted entirely from our back end servers, email us at hello@bestselfapp.xyz indicating that request.

Age Requirement

Users must be at least 13 years old to use BestSelfApp.  BestSelfApp is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register for the service. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information and terminate the child's account.

Cookies

We use cookies and other such tracking technologies (“Cookies”) to remember certain details when a “User” visits some of the websites owned or otherwise controlled by BestSelfApp.  Cookies are small data files that transfer to the User’s computer, phone, or other such device (“Terminal Device”) upon visiting some of the websites. Information is then obtained on the return visit. Cookies are stored locally on a Terminal Device for different periods, determined by their expiry date. Session Cookies are deleted once the browser is closed, while Persistent Cookies may remain on the Terminal Device until a given date.
